I've been reading some scary stuff about snakes ingesting substrate and becoming ill or even dying from it and it scared me, I keep a close eye on the royals when they feed but I've never bothered with Pandora (7-8ft boa) before as she's so big I figured a little bit of wood chip here and there wouldn't bother her, should I be taking any extra precautions with her (I noticed she took a little in with the rat last feed but it didn't bother me since she's so bloody big) I'd put paper down over the substrate but she normally drags the rat around her viv completely before eating it.

I'd try feeding her out the vivarium but I'm pretty sure there is a safety risk there with such a big animal and she takes a good few hours to find the head and eat a rat lately so she'd be out the vivarium for anything from 1 to 3 hours eating which might cool her down a bit.

Any ideas or suggestions?

I'd stop worrying. They would have been around for a few million years if they had trouble with food covered in crap. If the digestive system can force down a rat, digest bone and not have any issues im sure you'll be fine.

i wouldnt be messing about trying to put paper or anything down for pandora is she drags it all over the place. A little aspen wont do any harm.

Feeding out the viv isnt really an option for you shes a big girl and after feeding may not be too keen to do what shes told, so just continue doing what you are doing is fine.
