Hi all!
I already have three rescue snakes, two corns and a JCP, and have just come across a Rainbow needing a home. I adopted my little eve from the same man a few years ago and she is doing great so I would hope to be successful in adopting this guy if I do go ahead. I know little about rainbows so not sure from the pic what type this is. Here is a link to all I know about him at this stage:

I obviously will do a hell of a lot more research before I would take this one home, but before I even contact the man, is there anything I should know that may put me off the idea entirely? I have read here that they are pretty placid, which is always nice lol, and need high humidity.
I'd appreciate knowing about the worst aspects of rainbow boa keeping so I know in advance if I should take on snakes number four or not! Thanks all. Looking forward to being an active member here if this adoption does go ahead!

Hi again folks, and thanks for your replies! unfortunately, the boa has already been homed! So I won't be getting her after all..... I am very disappointed now! They do have a few rats ales and a florida king snake though, so I will probably take one of those instead. Seems silly to have empty vivs here while snakes need good homes eh?
Thanks again and if I ever do end up with a rainbow boa I'll certainly be back!

Hi Cussypat, welcome to the forum. :) From the picture on the site you provided, the snake looks like a Colombian...but oddly enough, it looks like it has a Brazilian's face. I'm stumped! :D As Snakesitter said, your biggest concerns on care will be humidity and keeping your temperature at a decent setting. The snake on the site looks to be a little older, so you might not have to worry too much about it being nippy (unless it is just that way, some are). I think you'll find that there aren't too many negatives to having these kinds of snakes, providing you can give them what they need. I only have one BRB, but he is definitely one of my favorites and has never even once tried to bite me (*knocks on wood, lol!*). Best of luck if you do decide to get that one, it sure is a pretty specimen, whatever it is! |

Hi Catherine, welcome to the forums!
Moderate temps (nothing above 85F) and high humidity will be your main concerns. Temperment will depend on the individual snake. A few can be nippy. All that said, they are gorgeous animals and make wonderful pets once their needs are met. |
