Posted - 03/07/2012 : 06:36:39 Hi there, I've just wandered across from the corn snake forum - it's all Blackcat's fault, she's making me get a BRB
I and my son have 2 corns, now it's hubby's turn and he's really interested in a BRB (as am I lol) so though I'd sign up here and get some info :) He'll probab;y sign up himself soon - I'm just too impatient
Only thing which concerns me is, I'm not sure how easy they are to find in the UK? Over on TCS there are loads of breeding/hatching threads, but it's really quiet here! I'm hoping that doesn't mean they are really tricky to find |

We don't mind. After all, Brazilians love to swim. ;-) Thank you Blackcat, and we're all for immigration. I'm sure customs would totally believe you're moving just to buy a pet snake. :D

The good Incurable is, as usual, correct. The leading theory is that the white sides are a method of temperature control: there is no sun to absorb heat from at night, and therefore no reason to show off bright, predator-attracting color. |

Posted - 03/07/2012 : 18:27:18 I, too, am amazed by how much his color has changed. He was very vibrant reddish when he was a neonate; it was extremely difficult to capture the correct colors via photos. Now he has grown to a more reddish brown and the changes are a bit easier to capture with the right lighting. :D I have found it works a lot better to use the flash or go outside for direct sunlight. |

Posted - 03/07/2012 : 17:34:45 Oh wow!! There's soooo much I still need to learn lol, I thought you'd got a really expensive special morph type of brb lol
I was also totally amazed at how much his colour had changed since the previous photos on here lol! |

Posted - 03/07/2012 : 17:02:23 Hello Smart Bunny! Welcome to the forum. :) Thank you so much for your compliments on Marius. I am quite partial to him and I love hearing that other people think he's just as gorgeous as I think he is. ;) As for his high white sides, he only gets those during the evening, and if I'm not mistaken....most BRBs do this (so it's not a morph and you WILL be able to get one that does it. ;) ). Best of luck with getting your new friend and like Blackcat said....we're looking forward to the pics when you find one! ;) |

Posted - 03/07/2012 : 12:42:33 Thought you were up early, hope you feel better soon. I know Living Gems is across a 'tiny' pond - doesn't stop me wanting one It briefly crossed my mind to emigrate - now that would be impractical. |

Posted - 03/07/2012 : 12:18:12 Lol I spent all evening on Sunday and yesterday looking at the pics beore signing up here this am (got up early as not well and couldn't sleep so thought 'I know what I'll do lol!!)
Living Gems is across a little pond though, might be a bit impractical to fall in love with any of his |

Posted - 03/07/2012 : 11:49:20 I can understand, I was hooked the minute I saw one in my local rep shop - just wasn't prepared to pay the price. Marius is gorgeous, as are all BRB's in my eyes. I like my CRB's too If you have a nosey in the breeding section there are some great photos of LivingGems 2011 babies and some of the pairings for this year. I hope it doesn't take you too long to 'find' your new addition

Posted - 03/07/2012 : 11:04:30 Hmm, I seem to recall it took very little persuasion - you had me on 'go on, get one' lol!!
I had no idea they were ovovivaporous (well I saw the word on the care sheet but ignored it as I just read it as oviparous lol). Glad I found that out before asking a breeder for a hatchling They'd probably refuse to sell me a snake at all lol!
I've seen the pics of, arrgh, is it Marius? Incurable Flirt's 'white sided' (don't know if that is the official morph name) and OMG beautiful!! Bet I couldn't find OR afford one of those lol! |

Posted - 03/07/2012 : 10:01:57 Hi and welcome along I'm not 'making' you get a BRB, just giving lots of 'gentle' persuasion It is 'quieter' on here - some awesome babies in USA, I would love to be able to get a baby BRB from snakesitter I found mine quite easily smart bunny - just had to use what TCS refer to as the darkside. Just so you are aware they don't breed so profusely as corn snakes and often breeders will only breed every other year due to them being ovovivaparous (bearing live young). Loads of invaluable advise available, just have to wait a little longer than on TCS - lets hope you don't get too impatient Looking forward to seeing pictures when you inevitably get one |
