Posted - 29/03/2009 : 21:39:13 I already have a royal python, so apart from the humidity difference, how much about keeping crb's is different to keeping a royal? is a crb a particularly difficult species of snake to move onto keeping? i have heard that as youngsters they can be a bit snappy, but that in the grand scheme of things are relatively docile, again, how does their temperament measure up to a royal? what size viv/rub is best for crb's, is it the same as royals? (length of snake= length and width of viv/rub) so many questions, sorry. any general info that isn't already covered in the care sheet would be greatly apreciated, thanks :D |

Posted - 30/03/2009 : 09:55:49 I think compaired to a Royal, then the care is similar except for one main difference, which is the set up. They require such high humidity that it's a whole new world really. You can use coco bark as a substrate, but eco-earth is better as it retains more moisture.
You can use more live plants and stuff with a rainbow too.
Humidity is really the key- if it's not the right humidity then thats when you'll get problems. There's also more commitment because you need to be misting the tank regulary, so you can't leave them to it as much as with a royal.
Temperance wise they are similar. I don't think either really likes much handling. My rainbow is tame, but I have head of feisty rainbows. It should be alright though if you handle regualry.
Size wise I think columbians can grow a little longer than a royal, but still manageable and a good size really. |
