I was looking in to the sticky on this forum for treating wood and that would be the route I would follow as well as cooking it just wondering what woods have toxins etc

Luke, any wood gathered from the "wild" will always carry the risk of trasmitting unwanted guests like parasites, molds, or bacteria. If you follow this route, make sure to bake the wood in the oven for several hours to kill anything that might be on it. Best bet though is to buy pre-treated wood from a pet store. They can even tell you which type will best withstand the high-humidity environment Brazilians require.

Good luck,
