Posted - 10/05/2009 : 00:37:15 This is my 1st post on this forum and firstly may I say how pleased I am to see a forum strictly for Rainbows.
With the species being semi - arboreal, I picked up a semi -arboreal set up, comprising of; a spot light for heat, an infrared irradecent (also for heat) and a lot of netting and vines for climbing.
I am using orchid bark for substrate as well as moss hides which are keeping the humidity to high 80's but cannot heat the viv floor to plus 24 oc (hot end). Will an unstated mat ( baring in mind I never got a probed heat of more than 30 oc from current mat) if covered by ply or plexi glass, cause an over heating of the snake if it was to choose to sit directltly on top, which they often won't??? |

Posted - 11/05/2009 : 11:07:06 I think the lamp should be enough. Temps around 27-28C seem best to keep the humidity right.
Rainbows are supposed to be semi-aboreal, but mine never climbs anywhere. In fact she burrows under the substrate most of the time and is hardly ever found above ground. I would get a stat for the mat if you decide to get one, just in case yours is like mine. |
