ive got brb in a wooden viv and haveing problems getting the heat range hot end is 81f and cool end is 78f i have a 60w ceramic heat bulb also 3 vents humidity is around 80-85 two hides two bowls and a moss box my living room temp is around 74f constantly with windows open not sure what to try next maybe some fans or a different heat set up . any help or advice would be great |

hi rainbowman,ive been thinking about changing to a glass viv/fish tank,wots the best size to get for a 6ft brb and how do you stop the glass from crackin by using heat mats only. |

Ben, I agree: heat bulbs are not the best way to go.
Also, be careful of the high end: a jump from 60 to 100 watts might be too much. 81 is probably good enough, and leaves you some margin for error.
If you can get the low end temp down a few degrees closer to room temp, that will provide your rainbow with more of a gradient, which will keep it healthier.
Finally, look into a non-wooden viv for the long term. Wood usually does not handle humidity well. Glass is better for humidity, but retains heat poorly. Plastic is really the way to go these days.

hi ben i dont use a heat bulb because it drys your viv 2 quickly i use heat mats on mine but i have a glass tank this is better 4 humidity and that is what your looking 4 and live plants keep it up as well and there dont want it 2 hot anyway also u need a drainage if it was my viv i would line the viv out with sheets ov plastic because a wooden viv will just swell glass tanks are better for brbs  i just hope this helps |

I have a new 100w Komodo ceramic but it looks like it's got tiny little cracks all over it so I stopped using it but thanks for the advice again Gmac |

I would be trying a larger wattage ceramic heater to get the higher temps you are not really all that far out so 100W shouldl do the trick nicely. |
