Hi all you lovely BRB experts!
I have an old kitchen cabinet that I plan to refurbish into a new viv for my BRB. The inside is painted and I had planned to strip the paint or paint over it. I am hesitant to use chemicals to strip the paint, so I'd like advice on that. I'm also wondering what paint brands are good to use inside a wood vivarium for BRBs. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Brittany!

Due to this species' high humidity requirements, I would hesitate to recommend a wooden enclosure, unless it were specifically designed and assembled for high-humidity herps by someone with skill in this area. The wood has to be sealed just right and with the proper chemicals, or a layer of plexi used to overlay the wood base. And you never know, with materials not intended for this purpose, what residual chemicals may lurk....

That said, a wooden viv can and has been done -- there are examples on this very forum -- and if you're up for a moderately complex challenge, we can certainly ask the experts.

Either way, good luck!
