Hi all,
I'm new to BRB'S having only had my two for a week and a half. We were told that our female was in shed when we picked her up. Just a newbie question really. How long does it take for shedding to take place, as we've not handled her yet to avoid stress?
Any info appreciated

A humid hide is a must for this species. I recommend New Zeland sphagnum moss. Soak it then wring it out like a towel, and place it in the hide. A large, flat water bowl is next, to maximize suface area and therefore evaporation. Next, use a humidity-retaining substrate such as orchid bark, and mist it occasionally. Finally, limit air exchange with the outside room -- no screen tops!
FYI, I recommend avoiding heat bulbs of any type, as they tend to dry the air out. Plus, undercage heating helps raise humidity because you can place the water bowl partly on top of it to promote extra evaporation.

Hey there,
I use orchid bark in a glass viv and that really helps my humidity. I also have a water bowl under my heat source and a decent amount of moss in the warm corner, all this helps although I still need to mist semi regularly.

The two of them are thriving now. We're moving them in to a viv each today with ceramic bulbs and aspen. Will it be better if we get orchid bark for them instead of aspen to keep the humidity up? Also been recommended to get a humid hide box each. We switched the heat on last night to warm up the empty vivs and we've already needed to spray the vivs twice to keep the humidity up. Any advice appreciated. Steve |

Agreed on the not handling. Larger adults can take as long as two weeks. You'll know when she gets close because her eyes will clear up. |

can take anything from a week to 10 days or so from going in to shed and the actual shed. Very cool on the not handing though. |
