No problem. I don't usually bother reading threads that don't use proper capitalization or sentence structure, but since it was you who asked I decided to put the effort forward.

My Columbian hasn't tried since it's first day and it was just a baby when it arrived.

It took about 5-6 months for my Paraguayan to stop trying to eat my eyes, but she was just showing me how spiteful she was about having to adjust to a new home and a different style of handling. She was already 3 1/2 years old and had only one owner since birth, so she was already established as a pampered little Prima Donna and didn't like my adjust or perish attitude, so she showed me attitude of her own until she finally did adjust.

Patience and routine - including fairly regular handling without letting them think a bite will have the desired effect of putting them back - wins the race to get them adjusted.

It is the shock of it.

Most strikes are as Todd said, quick bites and releases. You'll get a bit of blood, but no real damage or pain. If the snake has been properly socialized and handling, bites should be few and far between. Todd, how long has it been since either of yours took a stab at you?

Expect it to be over before you really even know it happened. It doesn't hurt, but if that's a concern for you, perhaps things with mouths aren't really for you - anything with a mouth *can* bite :)
