Okay, I'm planning on moving my CRB up into a new glass terrarium in the near future. Was just wondering if there's any way I can use branches from outside for a place for him to climb? I know i would habe to go through disinfecting it etc. Just wanted to ask for methods that works for you guys on the forum? Thanks in advance! |

Using outside wood will always be risky. Even if you treat it, you may miss something. That said, if you do, I agree with Dam's strip and bleach approach. In addition, you might also bake it the oven for a few hours. Good luck! |

i have done this for my corn snakes and aslong as its done correct and not rushed then you shouldnt have had any porblems.
i stripped the brach first and sanded any rough bits, soaked for 24 hrs in a bleach solution (10% bleach)
then left to completly dry, after that i placed in the viv and have had no problems.
one thing i would say is make sure you know what tree the brach came from and check that its not toxic to your snake, some can be i have seen a list on here with various plants that are poisonous.

That's what i used to do for my Carpet Python, but the wood in shops is far too expensive! Various pet shops around where i live sell a peice of wood which is barely ideal, for around £8! To provide enough places to climb for Tiny im looking at spending almost the amount im spending on the viv itself. On my travels around the woods nearby i see planty of wood that is perfect for the purpose. But for obvious reasons, I dont risk using it D: |

I've seen a number of advice throughout various forums although all of them left me worried about residue chemicals!
For ease and peace of mind I just bought from the shop.
