I would really love to know what brand of plastic vivs everyone are using for their BRB's. I have a Herp-Tek for my GTP that was £400, but just do not have the funds to spend that kind of money at the moment. I spent hours searching the net for a resonably priced one that will house an adult BRB but they are all so expensive! I was really hoping to find a second hand herp-tek somewhere but have drawn a blank. Does anyone know of a cheaper version plastic viv?

did you have any luck at locating any fablon over the weekend ???????
Snakesitter Posted - 15/06/2012 : 23:00:04
The Pro-Cages look nice...but as you noted are quite pricey. Either way you go, good luck!

Thanks Tango i will look for that going to Wilkos at the weekend. That could be a good option as long as I do it right :) I know that in Greg Maxwells book he uses something similair for Chrondos but he starts from scratch and covers all of the edges before he puts the tank together. Always wanted to have ago at making one of his vivs but I am just not very handy lol.

it was just a thought with perspex,

fablon is rolls of sticky back plastic, it comes in various plain colours, and various wood effects,
and normally in diy shops or wilkos and it is waterproof so it damage a wooden viv.

I also have found these Pro-cages and prefer these due to the colour more than anything :)

only thing is the size that looks ok for a BRB is quite expensive still. They look really good and are not so expensive for GTP's though :)

The link worked that time! Eco Vivs make some great product. However, as noted, glass is just not the best choice for rainbows. Lining a wooden cage may work, but will require some effort.

I was thinking about lining with perspex but I am not very handy at all :( Whats Fablon??
tango Posted - 12/06/2012 : 09:07:18
have you thought of building one from perspex or lining a viv with thin perspex or fablon ?
Samsnake Posted - 12/06/2012 : 08:16:31
Thats a shame the link is not working :( I will try again to see if i can get it too work.
Ok try this one http://s330310598.e-shop.info/shop/category_36/Eco-Vivs.html?shop_param=cid%3D%26
Its for the online shop. They are plastic in a grey colour (would prefer black) They look similar to the vision Vivs :)

Link is not working for me. I believe Ecoviv makes glass enclosures though, not plastic. Glass can be adapted, but it takes effort to address its shortcomings.

A freind on Facebook has just sent me the link to these:

What does everyone think??
Samsnake Posted - 10/06/2012 : 09:52:10
They look very good but looks like the only ship as far as Canada :( I will email them though and see what they say about getting them to the UK.
Snakesitter Posted - 09/06/2012 : 05:24:37
I use Boaphiles (http://www.boaphileplastics.com/)...however, I am not sure if they are distributed in the UK or not.

I have a temporary 2' viv made by a company called Penine, they do do a bigger one at around 3'. You can pick these up second hand, but they aren't too expensive new.
I have recently found this site:

http://www.hendersons.co.uk/vivarium/vivarium_index.html

but these are around the same sort of price as the Herp-tek.

Thanks but are they just the RBU's I am looking for a big display Viv rather than a RUB as I only have a few snakes so like to make them look pretty :)
