Basil arrived today and he is quite pretty probably not the best looking after seeing everyone elses pics on here but he will do me just fine
However I am now a little worried that he has burrowed and I have not seen him since...I know that he needs time to settle but finding it hard to resist the temptation to check and see if he is ok, but I dont want to freak the poor boy out. I think I have got temps and humidity correct but worried now

Completely normal. Babies hide where they feel safest. The hides -- which he probably *has* explored late at night -- just don't seem as snug to him. Are any of them moist-moss filled?

I did see him last night just his little head was poking out of the substrate....I am itching to get him out and have a little hold of him :( He hasn't used his hides at all and seems to prefer to hide in the substrate. Is this normal??

Blackcat is correct, Sam -- nothing to worry about. Basil is just getting acclimated. If you want to see him, keep an eye on his viv just after the sun sets. Unless he's in shed, he'll very likely poke out for a little home inspection.

I am sure Basil is very handsome
Looking forward to photos once he has settled.
Try not to worry too much, I'm sure your set up is fine (you've done your research).
You could try watching last thing at night, mine all come out and explore in the evening - in fact I see more of my Rainbows than I do my corns, lol.
The week for settling will soon pass and we will all get to see Basil
