Hey guys, is there any particular brand of UTHs that are the best, particularly for under RUBs? My local pet store has only the ZooMed brand, otherwise I'll have to buy online and I'd like to get set up and regulated well before I buy my BRB. Any suggestions?

It has been my personal experience that the Exo-Terra UTHs are useless pieces of junk. Way back when I got my first snake, I kept her on an Exo-Terra. The thing could not keep the temps correct for nothing. I switched over to Zoo-Med's Repti-Temp UTHs and have only had one of them go wonky on me. I still am not 100% satisfied with them and will more than likely be switching the few enclosures I have left that use a UTH over to Flexwatt.

And I agree with Snakesitter. I have done business with Reptile Basics and they are very friendly and helpful. They would be able to answer any questions you have on the outlets, or get the answers for you relatively easily. :)

Jordie, I've not used Ultratherms, though I at one point considered them.

As for the outlet question, I would write Reptile Basics and ask them. To cover all bases, ask not only if they can be used with US outlets, but if the company has ever tested them using US/Euro adapters. Reptile Basics is a good firm, and I'm sure would not mind querying their supplier for you.

Good luck!

Thanks. I was actually starting to look at Ultratherm heat pads: http://www.reptilebasics.com/ultratherm-heat-pads

Does anyone here have any experience with those? Also, will they plug into American outlets?

Beware of the bigger Zoomed heaters. If you are using a thinner sterilite tub it may melt a hole in it. I actually had this happen. The heater was even on a thermostat. It may have been faulty. I don't know. If you are using a harder thicker plastic and a thermostat it may not be a problem.
I am actually going to start using flexwatt tape. You can get all the stuff to set it up really cheap. Bigappleherp.com has all the stuff and a good instructional video on how to set it up.
Zoomed does make a small heat pad specifically for small plastic rubs. It is fairly inexpensive.
