Hi,
I was hoping to get some advice regarding wooden branches and logs in rainbow boa vivs.

With the high levels of humidity would you recomend:

A. Never using wood
B. Using prepared wood (bleach/oven) and washing regularly to avoid mould.
C. Painting the branch with a snake safe varnish.

I do know that on the corn forum people often advise using yacht varnish as being safe for snakes.

I'm starting to think that it is impossible to find a set up that I'm happy with both practically and estethetically. Is there a section on the forum for habitat pictures?

I was also considering using hydroleca balls under my substrate but I'm not sure if its worth it.

Thanks for the replies,

Paulie (without all the corns and not on TCS)

LOL on the post title.

Like the others, I do not use wood in my vivs. However, the right sealant should be safe...the question is finding that right sealant, and making sure to let the wood thoroughly dry afterwards for at least week.

Good luck!

Oh lol! Sorry - and welcome to the forum :D

Paulie on TCS (the corn snake forum) has absolutely loads of corns and other snakes too, he's totally addicted and we all tease him about his 'oops I bought another one' posts, so I just thought you must be him

TCS is the corn snake site, a sister site to this one
With regards to your question, I think most people stay away from using wooden stuff due to the humidity which leads to mold issues.
Like smart bunny I only use plastic/resin stuff in my rainbow enclosures.
Apologies I can't be of further assistance

I'm afraid your bet would be lost. I don't know what TCS is, and I only have one corn and a BRB.

Paulie, assuming you are Paulie from TCS (and I'm willing to bet you are...), you have too many corns/royals already and do not have room for a BRB as well rofl!!!

:P :P :P :P :P

Sorry, cannot help on the wood question, I only use plastic/resin stuff in my enclosure because of the humidity, but I'm guessing varnished would be OK?
