Hi all,

Just wondering... - I have a glass viv and planning on using orchid bark, large water bowl and fogger for humidity control, what's best for heating? I have experience with my royal using aspen substrate and heat matt under the viv, and the ambient air temp never varies from around 21c, but obv. hotter on the matt at basking end. With the BRB I know it needs to be hotter in ambient temp, should I get a better matt than I use for my royal, or is ambient temp not as important as ground temps and hot and cold ends of viv? (i.e. should I use both a matt and lamp or just a lamp or just a matt?)

Obv, will use with a thermostat.

Thanks :)

I would say a ceramic is best, but that's just my opinion. I am currently using a heat mat while my baby is young but will be changing to a cermaic with guard when she moves up to her next tank.

Rainbow boas are semi-aboreal so it's better to heat the air rather than the subsrate so they aren't always stuck on the ground trying to heat up when they want to be playing

I would think a 100watt ceramic should be ample. Maybe even less. They do through out a lot of heat.

Unfortunately I don't have the answer to your question but another to add this thread.

For a viv thats roughly 3ft x 2ft x 2ft what wattage should I got for on the ceramic heater?
