Posted - 18/02/2009 : 18:27:56 Ruby went off food for ages when we first got her. I think they need a lot of settling in. Plus the cold weather doesn't help. A lot of snakes go off food in the winter.
Keep trying- hopefully it won't be long before he eats again. |

Posted - 16/02/2009 : 10:13:13 theres no problem when he is being handled (or any other time), just when i try and feed him. i thought at first he was hissing so i just left the rat in the viv with him but he kept doing it for about a minute until he burrowed into some moss. i reckon hes just not hungry at the moment. is it common for rainbows to go off their food for a bit?or have i tried to feed him too soon after his shed?cheers again |

Posted - 16/02/2009 : 09:23:44 he's probably trying to tell you he's really not interested by hissing. does he make that sound when you're handling him? if he does it could be a wheeze...... |

Posted - 05/02/2009 : 19:34:37 never mind body temp get it really hot! and be patient, the rat wiggling can seem to take forever, it might be worth asking the previous owner if he has a preference for brown ones or white ones or any other obscure ratty colour |

Posted - 20/12/2008 : 09:40:17 I have found that dangling the mouse over the edge of a tupperware box (with him inside it) and "dancing/dangling" it along the side gets the result I am after. Otherwise he will press his nose against it for ruddy ages before striking |
