Hi guys!!
Just got Morganna my baby rainbow on sunday, so i know she is just settling in!! She has recently started to strike at anything that passes by her..I have her in a rubbermaid box with sphag moss, water dish at hot and cold ends, hide box..And..A nifty hiding place under one of her water dishes as well!!
her temps and humidity seem fine.
She only strikes when i have her in the clear plastic box i put her in while i change her out...Im thinking she is just nervous, as she is new with me??? She didnt attempt to bite when i lifted her to put her back.
Also.....How
long will i leave it till i try feeding her?...at least a week??? Do you just drop food in late at night and leave??
Any advice would be most welcome, as although i have other snakes, iv never kept a brazzie, and i want to try and get things right! |

Really? That sounds interesting. Are you sure she's not a hognose snake in disguise because that's what Wilbur does to me   |

How is she getting along now? Lilith bit me the first time i held her at the breeders (one of the reasons i liked her so much for being feisty hehe) and i left her to settle in for a week. She hasnt tried to strike at me since and all is good  she only occasionally makes a slight hissing sound when trying to get her out whilst shes playing dead. Seems to be a favourite game of hers! |

Rainbow boas have a reputation for being nippy when they are young, but it is just nervousness.
Let her settle in for a week and then start regualr handling. She should calm down pretty quickly then. |

She just picks up overnite, so i"ll just leave her to settle and see how she goes? The box she"s in is inside a viv which is in a pretty low key part of the house..im just nervous as iv never owned a Rainbow before, im sure she"ll settle soon. |

leave her for a week, as undisturbed as you can bar water changing, and she should start to chill out. if it's possible put the viv in a quiet place where she doesn't have lots of passing traffic if it upsets her.
after her first week try a feed, do you know how she usually eats? if she's a strike feeder or just has the mouse/rat leftin with her? if you can find out and do the same i'm sure she'll be happier.
with a few feeds and time to get used to her new home she should calm down |
