This week Living Gems Reptiles profiles another one of its juvenile animals, the electric Spessartine. Spessartine is an August 2009 female. She has one of the most vivid orange highlight shades I’ve seen, and is (finally) a confirmed rat feeder, having preferred mice up until only a few months ago. As of July 2011, she weighed 960 grams.

Here she is in a sequence of three shots under different lighting, all taken in March 2011. Note that as opposed to many of my photos, there are *not* just-shed shots:

Thank you for reading,

It'll happen quicker than you think, Martin. And Spess still has a ways to grow....

Another stunner from Living Gems! Beautiful :-)

Actually, in the photo above, she is not. I'd have to check my records at home, though, to see if she'd eaten a few days before.

LOL on "neo-scaled" lines. I wish!

Ah, that would explain the look of the skin - the scales look more raised and robust than usual. We may need to have you isolate a gene that can produce that for us so we can have a choice between 'classic' and 'neo-scaled' Rainbows

Thank you both! She's certainly a looker! Going into shed right now I think, I had to work it to get her to eat this morning....

Comments most appreciated,

Your snakes and images are always great, but there's something special about this one. I think it's the skin, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Whatever it is, it's certainly caught my eye

nice one on getting her over onto the rats.

Again cracking looking BRB great name and very nice colours but again I wont be selecting any individual photo, they all jump at me .
