An excellent point and a great place to ask. ;) :) I definitely wouldn't put the flash right up to their eyes, but just using it from the short distance you are taking the pic from really shouldn't cause any harm.

fair dos ya learn something new everyday. I just assumed that because they're nocturnal, that a flash, would make them feel uncomfortable, kinda like a bat. To be honest, I've taken a few pictures of my snake with a flash for the iridescence coloring look and it's never affected mine but I thought I would just ask, seeing as this is a forum :)! Thanks.

I have taken numerous pictures of Marius with and without the flash and it has never negatively affected him at all.

I've never heard or seen any evidence that flash photography fazes or effects them at all. If it did, I would think they would move their sight away.

Anyone else?

is it okay to take a picture that close to a snake with a flash?? I would have thought this would harm the sight of the snake!?!?!?!?!??!
