Today was feeding day and I caught quite a few good pictures of everyone eating. When I went to re-size the images, I was the most surprised at how well Marius' pics turned out. Needless to say, he was very patient with me while I snapped like a mad woman. Here's my gorgeous guy, mouse in mouth.

Thanks Bunny! I need to get new pics of him, but he is in his shed cycle at the moment, so as soon as he finishes that, I am going to try to get some good shots of him post-shed.

Stunning colours

That is the truth. I keep about four different pieces all cut to the size of his tub, so that all I have to do is remove the moss, clear out his water dishes and hides, pull out the dirty astroturf.....wipe everything down with my cleaning solution. Then setup is just as easy. Place the new astroturf, add the new moss and his hides....a little mist to re-establish moisture and it's good.

Astro does have its negatives, true. On the flip side, nothing beats being able to do an entire substrate change in three seconds flat. ;-)

Thanks, everyone! Yeah, it is astroturf. I went with it because it is mold and mildew resistant and is relatively easy to clean up. Though it's not as easy as say...Orchid bark. I have actually been contemplating switching it over. However, Marius seems not to mind it, so I've put it off. I also keep my two BCIs and my Royals on Astroturf. My BCIs prefer it over the aspen and my Royals move around and explore more on it versus the aspen. All of my other snakes (Corns, a Milk and a Rosy Boa) all have the aspen, as they prefer to burrow in it. On the whole, though, Astroturf is not nearly as easy to clean (or spot clean) as aspen or bark. But...you live and you learn. lol!

I suspect so, it has that look. (Not a bad thing.)

Is that astroturf?

What's it like as a substrate? Any good?

Agreed, he is a lovely little fellow!
