Posted - 14/02/2011 : 17:37:15 Since Freyja the Brazilian Rainbow boa finally shed yesterday I decided to try her with a feed.
The shop said that she’d been on medium mice but I wanted to get her on rats, and I tried her with a rat fluff.
I shouldn’t have worried as she struck it so hard that she partially jumped out of the feeding tub and proceeded to devour the rat tree-boa stylee on the side of the tub!
Grabbed the rat!

I'm a tree boa!

Upside-down feeding...

Mugshot!

Rainbow sheen

Posted - 14/02/2011 : 20:52:23 Congrats on the successful switchover, and nice picture set! I suspect just post-shed is the time to do it, because they're usually pretty hungry right after.
Steve, most Brazilian litters are born in the July to October timeframe. However, I've heard of them in every month of the year, so take your pick! |

Posted - 14/02/2011 : 20:33:01 Thanks everyone, she's curled up in her pool now!
GMac, I'm so pleased she ate the rat straight away, I hear it can be a performance for some.
Hiper, she's a yearling. What's the range of times when BRBs are born so I can assign her a 'birthday'. J/K ;o) |
