Things are getting a tad slow as I wait for my Rainbows to slough, so I thought I'd start a few things that should keep people talking, lol.
Do you use a feeding 'schedule' for your snakes? Please note that I used 'snakes' because other herps do require more of a 'regular' schedule (e.g.: lizards/monitors, amphibians, etc.). |

That's essentially what happens here too, with the exception of younger animals. My Carpet Pythons are always good for letting me know when they're hungry - they'll take to the branches and assume a head down position as if waiting for something to walk under them. That shows how strong their natural instinct is because they've never had live food in their life, but they know that thawed food is put on the floor of their enclosures. I never use tongs or dangle food, it's always just placed on the floor of the tank.
I prefer the 'wait for the signs' method, personally. It keeps them lean and healthy. Since I have Blood Pythons, that's of particular concern; I've seen enough obese Bloods to last a life time. It's *so* unhealthy for a reptile to be overweight, but most Blood keepers think that since they're a stout animal that they should be fat, when all they're really accomplishing by letting them get so fat is shortening the snakes life |

Well my redtail lets me know when he's ready, he starts "browsing" and watching me, moves when I do, (I call it being on hair trigger) checks out the screen lid over and over, etc. It's his way of letting me know. Usually about every 14 days or so. The other two, pretty much every week. I keep a spreadsheet of everything I do with them, but pretty much I guess the two smaller ones are on a weekly schedule the big guy just lets me know when he's hungry. |

the feeding schedule we use is either the snakes ask to be fed (hasnt happened yet)or my good lady wife asks you fed the snakes yet?.
Is normally every 7-10 days for all of ours apart from the babies they get fed every 7 days. |

I feed babies weekly. I feed juveniles every other week. I feed adults every third week, with the exception of breeding females in the ramp-up and recovery stages. Tuesday is usually feeding night. |

I tend to feed my snakes on a Wednesday, with them all being young they're all on regular feeds; Although the boa and the python are playing hob with my schedule by refusing!
The cornsnake definately distinguishes between a normal day and Wednesday, as its the only day I actually see him! He loves his dinner time  |
