I'm amazed!
I have defrosted a rat pup for my MBK, but he is refusing to feed on anything at the moment. I didn't want to waste it so thought i'd give my lil a man a go on it. It was to big for him really but thought i'd give him the smell.

Tried a few times with litle interest. Opened up his mouth a few times but nothing.

Left it 5 minutes and thought i'd pull it out and WHAM.

He hit it so hard it made me jump. I was quite surprised he managed to eat it all but pleased he is on rats so soon.

I was going to joke about him having eyes bigger than his stomach....but I guess having a strechable stomach kinda kills that saying, huh?

Yeah i have some smaller ones for him anyway. Just wasn't expecting him to hit it.
Thats good info there

I think you know this, Welly, but just for future readers' education:

If you feed your Brazilian something no bigger around that he/she is, seven days is a good guide (for animals aged two years or less). If you feed him/her anything bigger -- not recommended, as it could trigger a regurg -- I'd lengthen it to every ten days, maybe even every two weeks. The key is to remember that Brazilians are skinny snakes (thus, the "slender boa"), and have a tendency to get obese in captivity unless their human is careful.

As I said, more for the public record than you! And again, kudos on a successful switch!

I'm going to switch him to 7 or 9 day feeds or when ever he hunts again.
He is currently on 5 day small mice. Just my MBK to go and they will all be on rats

Congrats for switching him to F/T rats, and on your first try! Excellent photos, by the way. I agree with you, I'm amazed he could handle a meal that large -- he looks absolutely stuffed!!! I'd definitely give him a few extra days (maybe even a whole week) before handling again, and maybe move down a rat size for his next feeding...no sense taking chances with a gorgeous pet....
