Friday was a great night for me as Mayhem's eyes cleared up on thursday and i knew he was going to shed within 12-24 hours and friday evening around 7.30pm i was spying on him and watched him come out of the moss hide and have the biggest poo ever and then watched him go in to the water bowl and had a quick soak then he moved out of it over to his rock and started rubbing his head/nose on the rock and i saw him peel back the shed then he started moving around in to his fake plants and going around the RUB exploring and watched him shed the whole process took about 15mins.

This was my first time watching the brazilian's shed and was very amazed at it his shed was one whole complete intacted just like every other shed he has done and after he had shed he went to the water bowl had a nice drink and then went in to his cool side side.

I suspect it's a combination of two items, Ash: one, that the snake needs to make sure the shed clears its vent, and the animal probably flexes those muscles to accomplish this (if you've ever "helped" a snake shed you will know the shed skin can "stick" there); and two, snakes seem to hold their bathroom routines during late shed, so are probably "backed up" when they're finally done. Kind of like being stuck in traffic? ;-) Just a theory, mind....

Why do most snakes poop while shedding is it because they find it easier or ...
