If he couldn't explain it and those are the facts then you did the right thing. However, there is a way for more than one computer to use the same IP address at the same time, via a router. It's also possible for someone to grab onto his connection, say, via an improperly or unsecured wireless access router without his knowledge (as opposed to being connected via ethernet cable to the router, physically) In this case, someone else could have been doing anything they pleased whilst showing up using the same outward facing IP address.
This is highly unlikely, however, as the person would have needed other information known to hiper to show up here, etc.
I have seen this very same thing happen on mailing lists where list users create another identity and cause problems. They say 10% of the population has some sort of mental "issue". Who knows why people do what they do.

Hiper's latest IP address was found to match the latest IP used by Raverbaby.
As some of you may know IP addresses are a unique address assigned to each individual computer by an internet service provider. They can't be used intermittently by two different computers (or people unless they are using the same computer)

But im still here, keeping up the good spirit :) I have liked this forum,
and everyone in it, but im thinking i must have missed something. Hopefully,

Hear hear.. I know I am very new here and as such I don't have a lot to offer advice wise, but the people I have met have been great.
Although I totally condone things of a derogatory nature and any malice given to another member should be culled very quickly, I hope it doesn't cause people to leave or feel unhappy to visit. What I have recently seen is a very informative and friendly forum !!
Lets let the dust settle and allow people to ahhhhhh, relax and allow things to mellow once again.

Also, while I respect the moderators' judgment, something seems not right here: why would someone voluntarily request a ban of a pseudonym operating from a known-to-be-related address? If trolling, wouldn't he have *avoided* that scenario? This whole thing is just plain weird.... |
