This is more of a preventative measure than anything but our dogs and the cat had/has tapeworm(we are in the treatment stage)and I'm worried that Jesba, my snake, might get infected as well. I freaked out and skipped her meal this past weekend, in order to quarantined her until I know all we've got this junk out of our house. But other than that is there anything else I can do to help prevent her from getting it, what should I look for to tell if she has contracted it and what are my treatment options if worse comes to worse.

Thank you in advance for any advise you can give me.

Paranoia = good.

Okay sounds good, I figured I was just being paranoid but that paranoia has kept her healthy for the past three years so I'm not changing anything haha.
Thanks

Kaz, this thread may help you: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showthread.php?53025-WHAT-is-this-horrid-mess-!/page4&highlight=tapeworms. (Later pages get into breeder nastiness, be warned.) It *sounds* like snakes cannot get it directly from cats and dogs (though maybe from an infected rodent), but better safe than sorry. The vet treating your other animals should be able to give you a definite answer.

Generaly and as far as i know tape worm must be ingested and normaly is passed between dogs when poo is sniffed and licked. Dont let you snake lick your dogs poo and you should be free. The eggs can be passed this way which is why its spread so easy but they dont travel without a host so no great threat.
