Posted - 04/07/2011 : 05:27:40 Hey everyone I am the proud owner of a Baby BRB hes a couple months old now and I have had him for about a month (got him at a show) But i noticed he has wrinkles in his scales I think its dehydration so I put down wet paper towels in his hide tree thing as well as put in another hide box with wet paper towels and some moss (A high humidity box)I try to get him to drink but he wont have any of it and he did't eat yesterday I'm a tad concerned I have even purchased a zoo-med repti-fogger terrarium humidifier in case his humidity is to low (its in the low 80s which I hear is fine but because he is a baby i wanted to be sure) I have wanted a BRB for so long but i held back until i was ready and i knew i could care for it properly i would hate to lose my Little Alucard over something like Dehydration so are there any tips for getting him re-hydrated? or is Hydration not the problem?? Help please!!! |

Posted - 07/07/2011 : 17:55:54 I'm sure it will all work out for you, especially since you took it seriously and immediately sought specialist help -- the mark of a good owner! :D Out of curiosity, which Brazilian breeder did you speak with (wondering if I know him)? |

Posted - 07/07/2011 : 03:32:25 After taking him to the vet (not sure if i mentioned that the guy was a total twat) I took him to the local Rainbow breeder and he said that it might be hydration after all.... but then he said Alucard could just be going into shed and that this is the early stages either way im treating him for hydration problems I am soaking him now and hopefully he willeat in a few days and we can put this all behind us |

Posted - 06/07/2011 : 20:57:02 Hmm, my first thought would be hydration as well. Just the other day a local reptile store had one that looked *very* similar, and they put it in a water bag and let it soak for a while. I would do as Joe suggested above for a few hours (which will really get him to drink), with the covered bowl placed within his viv so that he feels safe, then let him out and alone for a day to relax, then repeat, and then try feeding as Todd suggested. (As you just tried feeding him recently, you should not offer right again anyway, so you might as well use the few days between meal offers to hydrate him.) Good luck, and please keep us posted! |

Posted - 06/07/2011 : 13:22:35 Call me crazy, but when you see that, a few good feedings usually takes care of it. A couple of really good belly-fulls (if you can convince it to eat that much) and you'll probably find the snake will catch-up with it's skin |

Posted - 06/07/2011 : 06:18:41 I took him to the vet today and he said that there's nothing wrong with him. after hearing that I thought Alucard might be going into shed which would make since as far as the wrinkles and not eating go but I haven't seen his eyes fog up or any other signs like that so tell me I am over-reacting to what could just be nothing or is there a problem here? sry for the image quality and thanks for your help you've made me feel very welcome here!
