hey all
im just seeing if any of you know any where i can find out and get info on how to assist feed properly as some of you know i have a brb that is reluctent to feed as previous owner had to always assist feed im trying everything to get it to eat on its own but nothing is working so far

i have been shown how to a little while ago but i just really want to make sure i know everything on how to do it before i attemp it, at the moment i will not be trying it as it will be a last resort if my brb starts to loose wieght and its been about 2 months of not eatin so far

so really just want to get all the info to do it and make sure its in the safest way if it comes to the point it has to be done

the brb has had this done all its life and is now about a year old i have everything set up perfect as discussed in previous posts ive done here and others

cheers for any advice

I agree, try and find live food. If you can get a snall breeding colony (in other words, an adult male and three females, in addition to the one you get for dinner), even better...less questions in the future.

I know the problems on getting hold of live mice, we had to go to the other side of the country to get our mice (not for feeding but for breeding), most petshops dont sell mice anymore is strange, we got them from a reptile shop in the end. It may be worth asking the local reptile shop if he knows of anywhere you can get a live mouse, he probably wont ask too many questions if you explain the situation.

i will try a local reptile shop to see if they can show me as that would be easier for everywhere and if i have no luck hopefully some one can help

im in cambridgeshire and yes i would try a live feed as option 1 is but im having trouble finding live food but the previous owner did show me how this was done but the state the 2 brb i got from him didnt show me he knew wot he was doin which is why i ended up with them im confident on all other parts of keeping snake but have never had this much trouble with feeding

How close are you to the previous owner, If you are close enough perhaps ask him to teach you how to do this. You could also ask at your local reptile shop, generally good shops will know how to assist and may well be happy enough again to teach you.

It is something that must not be done using advice found on the internet, It is best if you are actually taught by an experienced owner in the correct way to do things as if you get it wrong it can go horribly wrong for the snake.

Perhaps give your location on here to see if anyone is nearby you that can help.

http://www.thecornsnake.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3720 This link will send you to our sister site thecornsnake, have a read as it relates to all snakes not just corns, I would draw your attention to the last resort section and have a look at option 1. It may be necessary and it may also get your boa a nice feeding response on its own to then move to frozen/thawed mice / rats.

Keep us updated please.
