Ive been using callingtons on my snake now for 3 weeks, he's eating fine. But i cannot see any more mites on my snake yet when i bath him a few black specks appear, are these mites or just bits of left over dirt from the viv?
All he has in his viv are two water bowls a plastic hide and kitchen roll. I have cleaned out the viv every three days since i knew he had mites.
How can i tell if he still has mites or not?

Like gmac mentions, remove and throw-out any substrate that may be in the enclosure. I strongly recommend newspaper or paper towel until you're sure they're long gone. Sticks and hides and such can be treated, but you'll never rid substrate of them, so out to the garden or compost that goes.
Treating the snake and everything in it's enclosure for a couple of weeks as a precautionary measure once you don't see anymore mites is a good idea, and remember, you have to treat *everything* in the enclosure, the enclosure itself and the area surrounding it.
There are usually 2 outbreaks for every mite infection (first outbreak you notice and second that tends to pop-up just when you think you've got it under control), and for every mite you do see, there are several that you don't see, so I really recommend the preventative measures until you don't see anymore for a good month or two. |

take them from the water and squash them, if there is a leftover red patch they are mites.
But is better being safe and assuming they are and try to get all the dirt out of the viv. That will make it easier to tell if they are mites |
