Posted - 28/04/2012 : 22:12:44 So i was jelous of my buddys rainbow and decided to get one. i just got everything setup and he decided to give it to me, it has been poorly taken care of. The eye caps have been retained for about a year. I was sceptical about taking it, but thought it would be in better hands with me. his eyes are a very milky Grey. he said his body comes off in one piece during shed, but his face comes off in pieces, often with one or the other eye cap missing. he now has a humid box, at 90% and relative humidity at 80. all is good. anything els i can do for him? or should i just wait a few sheds and see if he gets any better. |

Posted - 01/05/2012 : 00:50:53 well we've had him for a few days now, and we caught him bathing the second night we had him. the water dish he had before was way to small to bathe. since he had his bath, and explored his new home, he retreated to his cold hide and hasn't come out in 24 hours. I almost have a suspicion, although i havnt really looked at him yet, that he may be going into shed soon. We will see how it goes. Thanks for your reply. Hope to have some good, or better news in a week or two. |

Posted - 30/04/2012 : 21:20:48 I'm sorry to hear the snake is in bad shape, and think you were a good person to give it a better home.
It sounds like your humidity is solid. Does the snake have a water bowl large enough to soak in? Does he use it?
You might watch for signs of impending shed, and then soak him for 20 minutes a day til he sheds. But yes, let him try one round first and see how it goes. A lot of time just correcting the humidity will fix everything within a few sheds.
Good luck! |
