Posted - 29/07/2010 : 10:12:54 Hi, im just wandering if I should be concerned about my CRB, we have had him for a few weeks now, he's about 4 foot and we think he's about 3 years old.
He has got a large hide on a heat mat and a large tub off the heat mat with spagnum moss in and to hide under.
He started off having mites but we've spent a good few hours sorting the viv out and two weeks later there are still no signs of them :)
Since then he has spent most of his time in the moss, last night we got him out to feed him and I noticed his belly has gone quite pink including his spurrs, is this something to worry about? if you press on the scale lightly they fade away and come back when the pressure is removed.
He still ate his mouse so he seems happy enough.

Has anyone raised the possibility this might just be normal pre-shed coloration? Most of my rainbow adults get a pinkish tint to their belly about a week before shedding. The pink does not go up onto the sides at all. It lasts anywhere from three to seven days, and never has any ill effects (other than serving as a helpful warning of the snake grumpiness to come).
Hackel, did he shed about a week after this? |

Posted - 29/07/2010 : 17:56:23 Seeing as he only ate last night i will leave it until tomorrow to get pics, he gets his self nice and snug in the moss and dont want to hurt him if he's full of mouse
Thats if its still pink :), can they burn themselves on the heat mat if they lay on it for a long time? he seems to move the chips out of the way when he does?
