Hey guys, sorry for the lack of posts as of late!

I was at the Kempton Park expo this week- FANTASTIC experience. I got talking to a guy who had some Anery BRB's, and also some het anerys..

Now I already have Jade, female, I am tempted to get a male and female that are both het anery (cheaper than buying a full anery! Would rather spend £400 than £3600!)

Now a couple of questions, at what age do BRB's breed for different sexes? I was thinking of breeding the two het anerys and also breeding the male to my current female. Thoughts? What is the market like for Anery's at the moment?

You always run the risk that a baby will end up being less spectacular when it grows up. On the flip side, you always run ths risk that the nice-looking adult you pick up has not been raised well and/or harbors flaws you are not aware of. You also lose a shared history and trust with the animal. But my biggest peeve with adult purchases is that they are rarely Tier 1 animals...because no one sells their best stuff. (If you have not guessed, I'm a big fan of the baby route.) Either way, keep us posted!

Hey Cliff, hey don't worry, that is fully what I was expecting! I'm not much of a fan of Anery's anwyay, I much prefer the Ghost that was bred this year, much whiter, closer to the white-ish caatinga rainbow someone posted on here that I have been drooling over for ages!

I will be looking for a male then in a few years time it seems, should I buy one from hatchling do you think or hold out until nearer the time when I know for sure that the snake I'm buying has it's colours set..? Don't want to buy a hatchie that looks stunning as a baby but then loses all its colour as it grows..! We have another big show over here in the UK in about a months time at Doncaster... May pick one up then!

OH IT'S ALL SO TEMPTING!!

Oscar, good to see you on the forums again! :-)

While I know breeders who will pair Brazilians as young as 2.5 years and 1500 grams, I think it places a lot of stress on a young, small female. I prefer to target the 3.5 year/1800 gram level, as I feel the animal is much more capable of enduring the rigors of pregnancy. Males, however, are usually good to go at 2.5 years.

Aneries, at least in the US, still command relatively high prices. *However*, I expect this to change within the next three years (which is the time it will take you to raise your female to a healthy breeding size). You won't *lose* money (you'll make back your original layout plus more), but it won't be the big bucks you see aneries fetching now. I anticipate this for two main reasons: Brazilian aneries are a limited appeal item (breeders are taking an animal know for its color and stripping that away, so most sales seem to be to other breeders or people looking for the unusual), and because a lot more breeder capacity will soon come on line (more supply means lower prices). My apologies for non-glowing forecast, but if I were a betting guy, that is where I would place my calls.

Please let me know if you have any more questions -- and drop by more often! ;-)
