| Ok, Rio's had her 7 day settling period, despite being desperate to hold her, I'm going to attempt to feed her tonight as its been quite a while since she last ate, wish me luck! |

I just like to give them a week to get used to their new house with minimal interference  I've been in topping up her water etc but haven't bothered her too much. I'm particularly strict with myself as the first snake (a corn) I owned, I held during the first week and he sadly passed away, probably not linked but I'm careful now this girl had to endure a 4 hour drive to come home with us as well, so she deserved a break!  |

| I have to admit, I'm guilty of the "week wait" as well. I like to hold until the next feeding day, make sure the new arrival eats, let it digest, and only *then* start handling! |

I normally let mine settle undisturbed for a week too. But my latest additions came with the possibility of mites, so poor things haven't had the luxury of settling in due to daily baths. Once treatment is over I'll give them more luxuries in their rubs, like a plant and something to climb on, and leave them in peace for a bit. But must admit they don't seem bothered about their daily dunkings thankfully.
I fed the baron last night in his rub. He prefers to eat in the dark without me around, so I figured I may just as well give him room service instead of moving him in and out of feeding tubs when he won't feed 'normally' anyway. So I just put a rat fuzzy on a piece of kitchen towel outside his hide before I left for work last night, and by the time I got back at 4am it was gone, so all good.
Good luck with the feed Newbie! I'm sure you'll tell us how it went afterwards and I hope she takes it ok for you. |

Well that's the little fuzzies in with Rio, so hoping she takes them fed Vin to, and since it was a slightly larger fuzzy I decided to cut the legs off it for him for ease of swallowing, but when I picked up the mouse with the tongs, the little paw legs stuck to it and I didn't noticed, so they went in the feeding RUB to!
After swallowing his fuzzy, he decided to eat the paws to! It took him ages to grip them! Cue me crying with laughter whilst feeling guilty for the paws dropping in! Rio's probably wondering what I was finding so funny! |

Interesting stuff
I'm rather the opposite, but never claimed I was 'normal', lol. To me, a new arrival must get used to me first & foremost, then it's new surroundings and such. In my own weird way, I figure that if it doesn't get used to me first, it's not going to get used to anything else, as I'll be the one looking in on it everyday, giving it fresh water every day, changing it's diapers when necessary and so on, so best it gets used to my scent, the sight of me and how I handle it. For some reason, I think that the 'overload' approach has always worked best for me.
Once they get used to the idea that I'm not going away no matter what they do, all that's left for them at that point is to either give-up or get on board, lol. I'm a cruel and irrational master...or *am* I  |
