Hello
I have two brb's who are coming up to a year old now I have never had any problems with them in till now. The female has shed but there's skin still left over I would say she's half shed. Her eyes are clear and the tip of her tail is clear of old skin. so she has half shed and she's not trying to shed anymore. Any suggestions please ?

If you have a spare Rubbermaid container (or something else of that nature) kicking around, I'd suggest putting a wet towel in it and letting them curl-up in it or crawl around in/on it in the container while keeping a close eye on the temperature. You don't want them getting too cool if they're wet like that, but this is usually the least stressful way to do it. Make sure it's not so wet that it creates puddles in whatever you put it in because they can drown if there is excess water and they can't find their way out of the folds of the towel. Always monitor this activity closely |

Good advice. You can do the same thing with a wet pillowcase, but using it as both moisture and container. Thumbs up! |

Hello again I have had the snake in a rub for just over two days now. at the start it seemed to be working but there's still a fair amount of skin left. How much longer can I leave it I'm getting a bit worried now I would say it's been around two weeks since she started her shed. It's weird because every shed they have had has always come off in one go??
Should I be worried? Thanks again |

Oh my! It shouldn't be taking this long at all. Take it out and put it in the tub with some water and let it run through your hands until it loosens. This is clearly a much more extreme case than I imagined :( |

I just checked on her again and she still has a fare bit of skin left over her I pull her out and tried to bath her. She bit me a few times so I stopped and I noticed her eyes are blue like she's going to shed ?? What is going on is it possible for her to shed again so soon? |

It's probably the old eye caps drying-out. Feel free to check my profile, find my contact info and contact me directly for some quick-type help if you like. |

Had similar problems with a royal last month. I let her run through wet towels and rubbed her with them gently till the skin worked off. She was very calm about it and it worked well, got all skin off in 2 sessions over 2 nights.
Work slowly with her and she will sort herself out. |

Cheers sandi I have kept snakes for around 8 Years now and I can say I have never seen anything like this. Around 2 maybe 3 weeks ago her eyes went blue so I knew she was going to start shedding. then I seen some old skin in her Viv and she looked half way through her shed. A few days ago her eyes go blue again ?? Which makes me think is she starting a whole new shed. I leave it till tonight I decide to put her in a rub a quarter of the way full with luke warm water and I left her there for an hour I pulled her out she started shedding in my hands with a little help from me. I got half of the skin off but noticed she has a small cut so I have put her back in the viv and I'm hoping she will finish it off on her own now.
The old skin is really thick like one of my big snakes and she is only a year old. So What I'm saying is she has shed twice within the space of a few weeks or a month tops has this ever happen to anyone else ?? And I would like to thank everyone else for there help expecially Todd. |

Kavs, shed frequency varies by age. I have seen Brazilian babies repeat as quickly as three and a half weeks, but it's *not* common. You may want to supplement your extra soaks (and higher general humidity?) with a product called "Shed Ease." If all else fails, take her to your local herp expert, herp club, or vet for an in-person opinion. |
