Fed Rio tonight, popped her in a feeding RUB with her mouse, and she got very upset and dashed round and round trying to get the lid off! Eventually let her climb out to be comforted and decided to offer her the mouse as I did last week and she struck for it! Only a mini strike-grab, but enough for me to say no more hand feeding! I guess I got a bit lax after her docile feed last week!

Thanks for looking

Better to learn now than when she's six feet long. ;-)

Very true! Glad her feeding response has kicked in a bit more, she obviously just doesn't like being in a little feeding RUB!

Yeah, hand-feeding is never a good idea with a reptile. People may consider their herps 'tame', but you *always* need to remember that these things are totally instinct-driven, and something which is warm and moving (like a hand) is fair game for them.

As Snakesitter mentioned, be glad you learned that now and not when it's larger. It'd be a hell of a way to make the news

I put Alucard in a big RUB (the one i used to feed my ball python in) and I think the space helps he always explores the RUB before eating its rather cute actually
