Nice find ZigZag! I'll be interested to hear your opinion. The only obvious comment I have from looking is that are not stackable.
VXRossi, here you go! This set of three photos shows a viv stack, an open hide side, and an open water side. The pictured viv is a four foot by two foot Boaphile unit.

have you got any feed back from them vivariums you purchased zig-zag? also, SnakeSitter, I was wondering if you have uploaded any pictures/videos of your snakes for us to see? I will be looking to purchase another snake in the near future. Not sure which to get though. Common Boa sounds good. Thoughts? |

Scrap the majority of the above comment I didn't realize there were two pages and missed your last post SnakeSitter. Fair do's nice set up there. they look very plain though from my point of view. I would like mine to be as interesting as possible, I might go out and get a few logs from a local forest see if they would be decent size for my vivarium. Also, the BRB in the blue tub you can see on your 2nd photo... is that a male?!?!?!?! How many snakes do you own? are they all BRB's? or do you have a variety?? I have two mice left of the ones mine is on now, I think it's time to take the next step up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D |

Yes, they are plain, but by choice -- these are not "show" tanks. I have quite a few animals, and cleaning that many props across that many cages would be an enormous drain on time for something that is more of a human want than a snake need. The snakes are perfectly fine with their giant hides and water bowls and newpaper to hide under.
The Brazilian is indeed a male. He is one of over twenty animals, all of them Brazilians of various colors and patterns.
If your animal is big enough, go for it! |

Fair dos i see where your coming from! Got a point! My lamp has recently bust, so ive bought a new one which supports up to 300watt, so i bought a 100watt heatbulb for her, and then found out that the previous bulb was only a 60watt. The vivarium with the 100watt bulb shows temps of over 90% so i have turned it off and going to get a 60watt, 100watt also dries up the moisture alot quicker in comparisson to the 60watt! Would 90+ degrees be okay for a short while or is it just too hot? My snake is going through shed right now and i believe I am to need a bigger vivarium sooner rather than later, are them plastic ones recommended for my brb or what? |

90F is too hot for any length of time. Yes, plastic is preferable to both glass and wood. Glass does not hold heat well or offer privacy, and wood suffers unkind effects from moisture. Plastic addresses all three needs. |

Hi, just a quick update, I believe you Snakersitter will be asleep at the minute as we live in different time zones, however, tomorrow, I am going to purchase another Brazilian Rainbow Boa, a male, it's very young at the minute, it's CB12 so you can imagine his size. I will post up pictures etc and a video or two. Also I still haven't managed to get hold of a plastic vivarium for my older female. I have been advised by a local snake person if I am having trouble finding a plastic vivarium at a reasonable price, to get a large wooden one and have silicone put inside it to stop the humidity effecting the wood. I can see that it would be a good idea, but is it recommended for an animal such as BRB or would you definitely stick with plastic/glass? Even a large fish tank would do, obviously the top of the tank would have to be tight-fitting which I will sort out before housing the snake but like I said I am having major trouble searching for a decent sized plastic vivarium. If you could again point me in the right direction it would be extremely appreciated. Thanks Cliffe |

I would discourage the wood option. Look for a plastic manufacturer -- they just listed a few of them a few threads up (Henderson, Penine, Procages). Congrats on the new addition, and make sure not to get too young and get all care records! |

Hi, sorry about my lack of updates in recent weeks. I have not long bought myself a Laptop as my PC is taking up WAY too much space. However, here is a video of my female Brazilian Rainbow Boa constricting a medium sized rat. The first rat I have ever fed her, and she took it so well. I did not do the follow up of the video in terms of her actually swallowing and moving around after her doing so, because the process took a good 15-20 minutes as it was VERY big to her. She did take it down well and her thickness size has increased dramatically since she started to digest the rat. She has so much power now it's unbelievable, she is a beauty though and will receive nothing but love and care from me :)(as will my male Brazilian Rainbow Boa and my Common Boa when I get it)

Snakesitter, in regards to a new vivarium, I have been advised to hold put, from my local reptile dealer, as he is adamant that Exo-Terra are bringing out a vivarium which is 120x60x90 (think I've got that the right way around haha) but basically same as what I've got but four foot as a posed to 3 foot. So I'm going to wait until they bring that out to get a bigger vivarium. |

Yes she did haha. Gonna' feed her again tonight. Yeah they are big in Europe your right. they're really good for reptiles and I've found a good way to maintain the humidity in there, which when I first got the vivarium I found it really hard but now it is not an issue. I will be getting a larger viv for her in the future definitely. |
