Hey Jake,
Not sure whether this would be suitable for a viv interior, generally chemicals & reptiles are a no no.
I know most keepers use plastic/perspex vivs or RUB's to prevent wood from warping. RUB's are considerably cheaper and due to the fact you're going to need to upsize during your snakes growth they will save you money until you get your adult sized Viv.
I use a wooden Viv for my sub adult, however, I have to work much harder to keep the humidity up and prevent the Viv from getting mouldy etc. I use 3 damp hides placed in the warm, cool and basking areas. I also have a basin of water placed partially over her heat mat. This combined with decent (but not too much) ventilation seems to be keeping the Viv in good condition. To be honest I'd go for perspex/plastic if you can.
I am looking at a 4 x 2 x 2 perspex viv at the moment to make life easier. Also I have been cooing over a BCI for 6 months and the wooden viv would be lovely home for her.......... :-) |

| Jake, I'd be cautious with chemicals as well. The best way to waterproof a wooden viv is to line it with plexiglass. If you search the forum, someone did exactly that, and left a mini-documentary of the project in a past post. It was a great job, and much safer for the animal. |
