This Saturday we had a couple of friends round, so I got Feather out to show them as they hadn't seen her. I don't know whether it was because she'd been got out of bed while it was still light, because there were people she didn't know, or because she was still snoozy and nearly fell off me twice, but she was not a happy bunny. She hissed and struck at my OH when she moved and was generally being an angry wee beast, so I decided to put her away. After trying to constrict my wrist as she went back into her faun she tagged me twice before slinking back into her cave! I thought she'd just butted me until I saw the blood, so I am now an official herper.
I got her out again later that night when it was dark and quiet and she was an angel again, so I think it was my fault she got snappy because I'd had her out with too much going on. |

Oh well- at least you know it doesn't hurt now
Bet your friends think she's a beast now and will never come around again |

I was surprised actually, like I said at first I just thought she'd butted me. I've had far worse from the cats when they've been playing. It was my fault for not waiting until it was quiet to get her out. I'm going to be handling her regularly though so that she gets used to it while she's little. |

When Ruby bites me it's usually when there's a lot of lights - she went for me at christmas once because I was stood in front of the tree and another time she went for me when I was taking loads of pictures with the flash on. So it's not really viciousness, just scared a bit so protecting herself. Think it's same with Feather - unless you were drinking too? Snakes don't like the smell of alcohol |

I know she's not really vicious, she's just different to a royal. If Princess gets scared she curls up, Feather nips. It's a learning curve for both of us at the moment. I'd had a few beers when I got her out later on, but earlier when she was nippy it was before I'd had one. At this stage it's not something I'm too worried about, she's only been handled a couple of times so it's all new to her. |

At least nipping doesn't hurt, so it's nothing to mind really |

I got home last night to find that she'd shed her skin, which is possibly why she wasn't happy to be handled on Saturday. She didn't look blue, so I must have missed that phase while she was hiding. Unlike Princess she still scoffed her rat on Tuesday though. Gutbucket. |

I usually miss Ruby too- maybe it's a all boa species thing
Shedding in Rainbow Boas isn't nice though. Ask Blackecho about what a humidity packed shed skin reminds him of |
