Ok, so this morning I went down and picked up a digital scale to start keeping track of Babies weight. I knew she was small but when I put her on the scale it said 25g. For some reason this seemed Really small. She does not look unhealthy though. A little wrinkled on her neck right behind her head but her body look nice, round, and firm. Of course she still hasn't shed yet but is dark and pink bellied. She was also quit active last night and a little nervous when I got her out to weigh her. She was under her hide and when I lifted it up it spooked her and she took a "blind strike" at me. My fault though, was moving a little fast when I picked up the hide. Totally freaked her out. Anyways, any opinions on her weight? Did I just happen to find the smallest BRB baby ever produced? Or do I just not know how to use a scale? Thanks for input Jeff&Sue |

Jeff & Sue--
She's on the small side, but I've heard of smaller babies. Proper care and feeding will get her growing in no time!
BTW, smart move to weigh her. Do that monthly and you'll compile a good history! |

I have no experience on weights of baby BRB's, all I can add is that my late (October I think) cb11 BRB male weighed 40g when I got him in April of this year. My 12 week old (when I got them) CRB's weighed 20g and looked like 'thick' boot laces Again congratulations on the 'soon' arrival of your new baby - slightly jealous of you getting a Living Gems baby, I would need to save lots to get one shipped to the UK |

thanks blackcat. Makes me feel better knowing that others have recieved babies so small. I will post pics of "Peanut" as soon as Sue can take some. Unfortunately I wont be home to see him till September. Drawbacks to working away from home.

Great name 'Peanut' Looking forward to the pics already, sorry to hear you wont met the new arrival until September, but on a plus side if he is a little 'nippy' to start with then Sue will have 'tamed' him in time for you meeting him runs away and hides from Cliff at the mere suggestion that one of his babies might be nippy |

Lol, I am sure Peanut will be well loved and acclimated before I get home. And Cliff would NEVER have a nippy baby... |

*Laughing because she knows better...* ;D They're teeny snakes trying to survive the "great big scary hand who's trying to grab me!". More than likely, though, your Peanut will be used to being handled by the time he/she arrives to you. Come on now, those are just love taps. ;) :D
....
Aww, I made myself sad. Marius has never given me a love tap before. *Hangs head and cries* ;) |

Peanut is almost a year old and I am sure Cliff has handled him just a little bit. But in any case love taps are so much fun. |

Ah, yeah. Then more than likely it will have outgrown most of it's "bite-y" phase. :D I've been given love taps by a couple of my other snakes before, but not Marius. He's just as chilled out as a snake could be, lol. |

I'm in the same boat - have never had love taps from my BRB or my baby CRB's All three are really 'chilled' snakes |

If either of you are really looking to feel a "love tap," I can sell you a bottle of this really cool rodent-scented hand lotion... ;-)
:::mock-glares at Blackcat over nippy comment:::
Peanut (aka Baby #B-17) has been a chill little dude for many months now. He'll probably be a bit stressed by the Big Bad Fed Ex people, but it will most certainly pass. He just shed this weekend, BTW. |
