That is a Boa Constrictor. An Imperator as well by the look of it.
Like a bigger version of my little man.
Looks like it's got a bit of an issue with shedding as well at the moment as well, did you buy it privately or from a shop? Or was it a rescue?
Are you new to snakes? if so what's your setup like?
And welcome to the forum. |

She looks like a normal BCI to me, and a very pretty one. |

Kehhlyr - No not new to snakes, been keeping reptiles (mainly snakes) for over 10years. Whats the difference between BCI and BCC then? And how can i tell 100%? I brought her privately, she was kept in a 3ft viv with a 75w redlight with no guard. Bet you can guess why she has trouble shedding :( Shes got 2 scars that i can see n they both look like old burns. I probably paid more than i should have for her but she is a beauty :D Im currently planning vivs for all my snakes which will probably include 2x6ft vivs and 2x3ft vivs. All will be heated with ceramics on thermostats with digital thermometers. Any ideas appreciated ;) Ive got a 4ft royal a Baby BRB, a 6 ft male Boa and this beatifull female boa (BCI)
Kazerella - Yes I am spoiled :D My mrs is way too kind for her own good! Although she says this is my last :D I would love to breed at some point but Im not sure on a male for her yet and would need LOTS more info before that as it would be my first time breeding boas. Im sure you guys will help with that though ;)

After starting my brain, I remembered you had posted previously so had experience, just thought there was no need to edit my post.
Normally apparently the easiest way to tell is with the colouring on the saddles on the tail. True BCC's have very red saddles, BCI's apparently have browny red saddles.
Although to be honest my BCI looks very red saddled sometimes. :D
Have a looky at the 'normals' on here: http://www.bci-morphs.co.uk/collection.html
So have a looky through this and see if you can find a best match:
Yours looks like a BCI colombie to me. |

Thanks :D Yeah she looks alot like the BCI colombie as you said. She actually looks alot like yours but with lots of orange/red down her sides from half way down to her tail. Ive just given her a bath in warm water and most of the retained shed has come off, all except the couple inchs near her head that can be seen in the first pic anyway. |

You can't really tell 100% whether she's BCI or BCC visually, but there are indicators. BCI saddles look like this )( whereas BCC saddles have peaks {}, BCIs have 22 or more saddles from nose to vent, BCCs 22 or fewer, and BCC tails are much more red whereas BCI tails are more rusty. These are only indcators though and can vary from animal to animal.
A reliable way to tell is to count her scales at mid body, 55-79 rows would make her a BCI, 89-95 a BCC. If you can get her to keep still long enough that is!
Kehhlyr: Thanks for posting the chart with the boas, Feather looks like she could be BCI Colombie too! |

I guess you mean count each indidual scale around her girth from belly scale right around? That would be interesting? Never tried that :D |

Looking at the chart as well, it seems to me that all the BCC's have a lower number of the solid tail saddles in comparison to BCI's as well. |

That's right, it'd probably be easiest to count the scales on a shed skin. |

Great chart Kehhlyr! I think I want a hog island now
I wonder how many other halves have warned that 'that is the last!' - it never actually works as we always end up getting another |

Shes been saying "thats the last" since i got my very first Royal Python! Although theres only one other breed of snake that I would be interested in anyway and im not experienced or even rich enough. (that and the missus said the F word many times when i told her my dream of rearing/owning one) |

Fantastic ? For-sure? Fine?
We'd need to know what it was to make an accurate guess, but I reckon it was the word 'Fantastic' just before the word 'Idea'. |
