I use a length of string. It makes it much easier to grab the string against the snake's body all the way down. Then just grip the end of the string by the tail and measure the string. Soooo much easier. |

IncurableFlirt, there are several places that sell good-quality reptile scales on-line for about $35. While it seems like a large investment, it provides really valuable health history. Failing that, you may be able to find a food portion scale at a garage sale -- I used one of those for the first 18 months I ran my business, and it worked fine.

Lengths are a pain in the ass as they never sit still. I find if you can get them on a tableand just gently lift the tail as they wriggle away they straighten out easily
Good tip. Funny visual though!

I've considered that. Again, though: 21 animals...one of which is very distrusting and nippy (purchased as an adult, I'm owner #4...poor guy).
For those interested, the other option is always a set of professional tubes, I don't think they cost that much. Hmmm...I may have to consider that myself one day soon! |

He is really looking fantastic, Welly! Gorgeous coloring, he's very iridescent! Looks like he really loves his home, too, excellent setup. Thanks for sharing new pics! |
