Hi All!

Just got Jade out to have a play and mist her Viv a bit and have a look around, and when I put her back, she went straight for the water bowl and had her head underwtar for about 5 minutes... then she poked her nose out (picture) and has been there for 10 minutes now.

Is this normal behaviour? Or is she just a little special?

Cheers guys!

Oscar

From what I've read thats pretty normal, but I've never experienced it. I don't think they are daft enough to drown themselvs. Does that mister thing in her water bowl work for humidity?

Brazilians loooooove water. My adults will soak all night, especially after a big meal. They can keep their heads down for some time. My adults sometimes blow bubbles while they're under, it looks pretty funny.

Just be careful that the snake isnt anywhere near the water when you put it on... make sure you supervise it. But you only really need it on for one minute to increase humidity up to about 90%! They're pretty decent. Or you could get an Exo-terra waterfall (medium or large) and they come with a gap in the back for a fogger which means that the snake can't get to it, makes it a tad safer!

Ye was looking at those. A bit pricey but could be a very nice addition to my new viv I'm building.

I envy you guys being able to invest in one device to solve all your humidity issues. It gets a little harder when you have 30 cages to watch. ;-)

It's doing it as it's normal behaviour but also as your humidifer will be getting warm so 2 birds 1 stone

Eesh, I can imagine, Cliff! 30+ would be VERY hard, especially on the pocketbook. Marius is my only "high humidity" snake. My BCIs like it a little more moist than normal, but a few spritzes a day keeps theirs spot on. My BPs like it a little more moist too, but nothing like Marius. I can't even imagine having 30 to take care of, humidity wise. I'd suspect that is a full time job.

Pretty close, LOL. Between my real job and snake care, Mondays and Tuesdays are pretty much writeoffs. ;-)
