Hi All!

I can't find the post where infra-red lighting was mentioned, but as I left it, I was testing infra-red bulbs for a small part of my final year project at Uni, and seeing if the Boa's could see the light or not.

Results - I ran into the room when Jade was busy trekkin it up a vine towards the light to presumably back, and she didn't see me! I stuck my face onto the glass, can't have been more than 15cm from her, and she had no idea I was there! Only when I accidentally headbutted the glass did she twig she was being watched then she froze, and slowly went backwards down the vine, then shot into a hide... bless!

I was using a 150W exo-terra infrared bulb. So from this I can either presume that Jade is as blind as a bat, or they struggle seeing infrareds/reds well. I know that they can see UVA lighting, whereas we cannot, so I suppose their visible spectrum is just shifted to the left of the EMS compared to humans.

SWEEET! I CAN SEE YOUUUU

Great info, Oscar -- thanks for sharing! I must have purchased the wrong type of bulb, I picked up standard CFLs, like you would use in any regular lamp, just red-tinted.
