just an update for you all
Prisma's post mortem came back as negative for IBD. it did show "neurological damage and dehydration" but apparently these are almost stock results for any neurological disease/virus/condition. i am awaiting a call from the vets to discuss the best course of action and what i should be doing now. so, at the mo, no idea if its good news or not really... |

that, my friend, is the question...definitely some kind of neurological "condition" (as in, it was nothing caused by keeping, mishandling or poor care- which is a relief for me.) but noone can offer me anymore clarity than that at the moment. as before , i will keep you all posted |

Oh right so you destroyed Prisma's viv and contents due to thinking it was IBD , I bet now your thinking you should not have done this ? Also was the PM not able to give you a 90 to 100% result of what it was if not IBD ? I personally don't know how you cope if that was me i would be banging my head against the walls thinking and being extreamly upset , I really do feel for you mate. |

He did the right thing with the info he had at the time. And, even if not IBD, it could still be something *else* communicable -- so better safe than sorry.
Anyway, a good silver lining at least. I'll be interested to see what thre vets conclude. |

yeah, thanks for your sympathy hiper and your support cliff. I destroyed all the viv contents but the viv itself and stats etc are on a vetinary advised 4 week sterilisation programme. i just spoke to the vet and he said, based on the results there was no reason he could think of why i couldnt now add a new snake to my collection but i think ill add a colubrid to be on the safer side. i will also keep the strictest quarantine measures in place, as always. will keep you all posted :) but as i said to cliff yesterday this whole episode has run me up to around the £500 mark so yeah, a fair bit of head on wall action has taken place lol! |
