Its not a huge rat its an appropriate size in relation to Aymara. BCA's are short tailed Boa's & are thick bodied in relation to length, she is at least 2 - 2.5 times as thick as my 5month old BRB, the rat weighed 18g.
I think that's about the same weight as the mice your feeding a 7 month old BRB isn't it?
We breed our own rats & therefore can cull the rats when they reach the exact size & weight we require. |

Bca = Boa constrictor amarali, Bci = Boa constrictor imperator.
Basically they are different subspecies of Boa Constrictor, just as there are differences between subspecies of Rainbow Boa ie. Brazilians(Ecc) & Columbians(Ecm).
There are differences in size, colour/pattern & scale counts etc.
To confuse matters even further Bci's can also vary greatly depending upon which locality they originate from, take a look at the differences between a Hog Island Boa (naturally hypomelanistic) & a Caulker Cay (naturally anerythristic) to see just how varied they can be.

Again this depends on the locality the Bci originates from. Common boas(Bci) can reach lengths of up to 10ft but 6-9ft is more usual, Tarahumara mountain boas(Bci) only reach about 3ft. Bolivian Bca's usually max out at around the 6ft mark. |
