I've heard several rules. Some people I know -- including one major US breeder -- will try for any females over 2.5 years and 1500 grams. I prefer to be more conservative and let them have an extra year of growth. I'd suggest 3.25 years and 2000 grams as a minimum. I do not differentiate between genders, but a male could probably be a bit lighter.

So for best results i should have my female over 1800g and around the age of 3years old if i left it until 3yrs instead of 2.5yrs would it be a good size clutch and how many would i expect from the size of the female ?
Not "around" three. *Over* three. There is considerable evidence that breeding young can effect a female's health and lifespan, so be careful with that. It also means a smaller litter with smaller individual babies. I'd aim for 1800 grams at a minimum, but more is always better. Typical litter size varies by breeder and bloodline, but seems to run around 15. Hope this helps!
