I personally would not go for the exo terra loose bag of bark chips. In some cases they are not stored properly either in teh werehouse or during shipment, and if they get wet you can risk getting insects and mould growing on the substrate. I personally used the sterilized, compacted coconut husk. Its cheap, easy to prepare, and it raises the humidity of the tank. I've used the fine Coconut fibre blocks but the stuff actually got into the snakes mouth (but that could have been the beginnings of a respiratory infection). Coconut husk is working out really well.

I've not had any trouble with coco-fibre either and it is safer than coco-bark
