I am very VERY unhappy to say that she didnt respond to any treatment and stopped eating completely, a few weeks ago she passed away. Thank you so much for all your advice and she'll be dearly missed. Viv's just not the same without her, such a sassy character sorry to bring this news late but i only just got my laptop back

Glad to hear a good report, Megaan! :-)
Megaan Posted - 04/09/2011 : 19:18:33
she's still with him but is doing loads better. Will take the food down but wont strike it herself so he is going to keep her until she's eating fine :) nothing else to report

If you had them before you can pretty much guarantee that they never went away. There are 4 stages to the life cycle of the mite, the adult stage is the last and the only one you see! You need to break the cycle and treat the whole house.

I used permethrin, (Plant based insecticide) in the form of lyclear head lice treatment, watered down to a ratio of 15ml into 1 litre water. Empty all furniture from viv, spray snake and viv thoroughly, every nook and cranny. The mites like to lay eggs up high in dark crevices so be vigilant! Either throw away or soak in bleach, all furnishings. Put snakey into viv on papar with only a cardboard hide, put clean, small, water bowl in AFTER spraying. Repeat every week for at least 3 weeks.

This worked for me, after trying lots of other methods. Permethrin kills the eggs, other treatments dont.
