so I'm thinking of moving my 09 BRB into a bigger viv soon and am not sure which kind to go for. I've heard that wooden vivs aren't a good idea because of the high humidity needed, but then I would imagine it is very hard to achieve a high level of humidity in a glass viv with a mesh top. Just looking for some advice and/or experiences people have had with either really!

there are pros and cons for each like you already said, wooden vivs will eventually warp or rot with the high humidity needed, glass vivs don't have this problem but yes, mesh tops do make stablising the temps and humidity more difficult.
a simple answer is to use a glass viv but to cover the mesh top whilst still allowing a little ventilation |

yes this is what im doing with my current 1ft viv, but I'm worried about how dificult it'l be with a 4ft one. Also i've heard that if the wooden viv is sealed properly then it will not rot, is this true or will it still eventually rot

if it's sealed properly it should last a while............ BUT if you drill any holes for cables or fixtures/fittings the water will get in there

I would go for glass. The mesh lids are important because even though they need high humidity, ventilation is still important. You just have to mist more often really.  |

| Argh it's so difficult to decide! lots of people i've spoken to say that wooden will work fine but then others say otherwise. I'm a bit worried about keeping the humidity up in a glass viv as I'm already struggling to keep it high enoughin a 1ft square viv, however I don't really want to spend a fair bit of money on a wooden viv only to have it rot. |
